Overview
Doheny Eye Clinic is known for providing exceptional patient care, research and education for vision-threatening conditions. As the clinic expanded ophthalmic care in Los Angeles and Orange County, UCLA hired Fisher Design Company to prepare multiple design packages and collaborate with Pacific 33 Architects on the Pasadena, Arcadia and Fountain Valley clinic locations.
Challenges
Creating a common thread of design within the clinics was central to developing a cohesive and unified design concept for the different offices. It was imperative to understand the tenant, their vision, their patient demographic, their budget, and their expectations in order to weave together solutions.
Strategy
First, we conducted multiple meetings with the client’s representative to analyze the project and prepare a detailed deliverable and schedule. Next, we evaluated the architectural materials prepared by the architect in order to finalize the feasibility, placement and continuity of the materials. Once this scope was complete, we designed, specified and coordinated the FFE, art and signage packages.
Results
A clinic design with various textures, high contrast materials, soothing colors, comfortable furnishings, contemplative art images, and foolproof wayfinding had exceeded the goal.
